Prevent Strategy

The PREVENT Duty
The aim of the PREVENT Duty is to identify individuals at risk of being drawn into extremism, assess the nature and extent of that risk and develop the most appropriate support for the individuals concerned.
Schools can help to protect children from extremist and violent views in the same ways that they help to safeguard children from drugs, gang violence or alcohol. The purpose must be to protect children from harm and to ensure that they are taught in a way that is consistent with the law and our values.
Carlton Coville Primary is committed to providing a secure environment for pupils, where children feel safe and are kept safe. All adults in our school recognise that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility irrespective of the role they undertake or whether their role has direct contact or responsibility for children or not.
The Governing Body fully accepts the school's responsibility to implement the Prevent Duty.
