Teacher Profiles

Year 4 - Summer1

This term, Year 4 will be starting our topic 'Go With The Flow'. This will involve learning all about Rivers in the U.K and around the world. We will also explore pollution and how we can help save our planet!
As writers, we will use our knowledge of rivers and pollution to write a range of different texts. These will include a persuasive piece about pollution, an information text about the children's own made up creature that could live near a river, and an explanation text based on an Anti-Pollution machine that the children will design themselves! Literacy will also be taught through storytelling and we will be reading Peter's Place by Sally Grindley. The children will be writing their own adventure story based on this book. Writing will also be completed through different areas of the curriculum such as Science and RE. In Maths, the children will begin by continuing our learning of area and perimeter. We will also be extending our knowledge of fractions and looking at decimals, in addition to some work on measurements, geometry, and graphs and charts. Times Table Rock Stars will continue and we encourage the use of the website outside of school to boost times table knowledge.
In Science, we will explore evaporation and states of matter, as well as learn about food chains and how to classify wildlife and animals. Thank you for your continued support and we are all looking forward to a busy Summer term ahead!
