Mrs Allen

This half term our topic is called, ‘How does your garden grow?’. We will be learning about lots of different plants and flowers, naming the parts of a plant and discussing what plants need to grow.

We will be planting our own beans and watching them grow. This will then lead onto our story writing about ‘Jack and the beanstalk’. We will be learning lots of aspects of Maths, such as estimating, time and subtraction and will link it to our topic by providing real experiences.

We will continue to read and spell words with the sounds we know and extend this to longer words with more sounds to hear such as green, brown, chimp etc. We will also be learning the names of the letters of the alphabet alongside our phonics.

We will continue to listen to a range of stories, linked to our topic as well as other cultures and will be making use of our new storytelling circle with our stories ‘Jack and the beanstalk’ and ‘Jasper’s beanstalk’.

As usual, please do not hesitate to approach us with any questions and we look forward to seeing you all at your child’s learning review in March.
