Miss Clarke

Welcome Dragons and Squirrels to full time school!

We realise that we are still living in unusual times but want to make school as normal as possible for all our Reception children.  We are going to begin the year with lots of activities to get to know your child and give them a chance to talk about the past few months if they want to talk.  We will also be doing team building and circle time type activities to bring us all together again.

Our topic this half term is called ‘All about me’ and we will begin by learning about ourselves, our families and different body parts before hopefully moving on to our senses and lots of our favourite things like books, animals and tastes!

It is vital you read with your child as much as you can, remember- Children who read, succeed! Initially we will be sending a story book for you to read to your child and discuss. Then the children will bring home books that they should try to read themselves. The phonics scheme we use is ‘Story Time Phonics’ and we hope you enjoy learning the sounds alongside your child. In your child’s book bag, they should have a ‘sound book’. Please practise saying the sounds using the ‘Story Time Phonics’ actions as much as you can.

Our PE day is Wednesday. Please remove any earrings and jewellery on this day and make sure your child has their named PE kit at school. Please encourage your child to be as independent as they can when getting themselves changed.  Your child will then bring their PE kit home at the end of the week for you to wash and return to school.

We look forward to speaking with you at Parents Evening this half term but please approach us with any queries or questions you have.

Thank you

Mrs Aggreh, Mrs Carruthers and Miss Clarke.
