Mrs Allen

We hope you had a great Christmas and wish you a Happy New Year!

This half term we are learning about ‘Helpful Heroes’ (people who help us). We are beginning with helpers at school then will learn about emergency services and people who help in the community. If you know of any visitors who would be willing to come in to talk about their job with the children, please let us know.

In Literacy, we are continuing to apply the sounds which we have learnt to be able to correctly read and spell them in words. We will be doing lots of writing linked to our topic, such as: thank you cards; crime scene reports; instructions to put out a fire and writing a letter home.

In Maths, we are deepening our understanding of addition and problem solving as well as looking at: collecting data, money and capacity. We will be linking the maths to our topic in lots of exciting ways!

As historians, we are going to investigate the Great Fire of London so please talk to your child about this if you can.

We hope you continue to enjoy the Maths and Play bags and you can see the progress that your child is making.

Please see our curriculum map to find out more about what your child is learning.

As always, please do not hesitate to ask any questions if you have them.
