Mrs Lewis, our English Leader, has created these videos so that you can access Carlton Colville Primary School's "Book of the Week" each week at home, or in school. Why not cuddle up with your family once a week to enjoy the Book of the Week?
All of the books featured in these sessions are available for purchase in digital or hard copy format at online stores. Some of the texts are also accessible for free via youtube or online libraries.
www.getepic.com is an online library currently offering parents and carers a 30 day free trial, which is an excellent way to support our children to read for pleasure at home during this lockdown.
The books will vary in age suitability, so as to consider the reading preferences of all of our pupils, whether they are in Nursery or Year 6.
Do you have a favourite book? Recommend the title to Mrs Lewis and she will see if it is possible for it to feature as a "Book of the Week".
Remember that "reading is the key that unlocks the learning" and that "children who read, succeed".
This list of "100 Books to Read Before you Leave Year 6", works as a fantastic guide to ensure your child is reading a range of high-quality children's fiction, by a variety of top authors throughout their time at primary school.
Your child can begin to enjoy most of these titles at any age, because you can read the story aloud to them, until they are confident readers who are reading for pleasure independently.
Have a look below and see if you can spot something your child(ren) would enjoy.
