After your child’s high school application has been submitted, I appreciate that
the whole transition process becomes somewhat of a waiting game.
The government website www.gov.uk/schools-admissions/applying is well worth a look,
as it contains lots of extra information about how the admissions and application
processes work through local authorities (in our case Suffolk).
This website explains that you should have received your child’s high school place
online, on or by March 1st 2018. This is national offer day. The admissions website
also contains information about the appeals process, should you wish to appeal the
high school place allocated to your child.
In the meantime, please rest assured that the high schools are already planning a
range of exciting transition activities for your children, whichever high school
they ultimately attend.
In the summer term, personnel from John Leman and Pakefield High School, East Point
Academy and Beccles Free School will begin to visit Carlton Colville Primary, to
ensure your child has a smooth transition into high school. Children who require
extra transition will also be given additional opportunities to speak to the Pastoral
Support teams from the relevant high school.
Pakefield High School have already visited Carlton Colville Primary School and have
provided year 6 with a “Pharoah Murder Mystery” science workshop.
If you have any questions or queries about the transition process, please do not
hesitate to contact me through the school office. Please also find below the dates
for transition days for our local high schools, although you will of course receive
additional information about transition days and events through the information packs
that the high schools will send out after national offer day.
